I'm very interested in cooking and creating new dishes I find it relaxing and therapeutic. I enjoy most cuisines and I like Turkish food provided it's cooked well and is fresh. I know some it it can be samey but I do love spicey foods so I'm very partial to some Turkish dishes and I love a nice meze. The last Turkish dish I had was rice (pilav) with stewed beans which name escapes me but it was really tasty and although it sounds simple it was packed with flavour. I had it in a very basic Turkish restsaurant when I visited London last month and I keep meaning to make it but haven't got round to it yet. You have to soak the beans for 12 hours and I tend to cook and eat and cook what I fancy that day. I have thought of doing the dish with canned beans but read the results are not so good, has anyone cooked this dish that way? I'm sorry I've forgotten the name of it but it's the white beans in a tomato type gravy with pieces of meat and the rice has pieces of macaroni in it.
