Pressies sent in Turkey Empty Pressies sent in Turkey

As the subject of pressies being sent in Turkey has arisen, it has jogged my memory that whilst in Marmaris a few years ago I sent a pressie to a certain person and never heard even a whisper from that said person until I had to email her to enquire if the said pressie had been delivered, and I am not talking about a Turk here Shocked Hows that for manners?

Anyone else been taken in whilst in Turkey sending pressies and not receiving a 'thank you very much, kiss my arse and bugar you'?

Right, I'm off now to look up recipes for Mockery Turtle Soup, well I feel sorry for those poor little snapping turtles having their heads chopped off by those thunderous fat sumos who sweat the big stuff trying to keep them at bay whilst they are man handling the poor creatures, think we ought to set up a 'Save the Turtle' petition and we can all add our protests. Laughing

    Hi Ruby,

Oh, same thing happened to me.........

SUCH a strange woman, that one is! Bit of a mystery too - always pleaded poverty but seemed to have plenty of readies! She obviously wasn't as hard-up (financially) as she liked to make out.

    What did you both send?

Its not very nice to not send a simple thank you message once someone nice and generous has gone to the bother and expense to do something nice for you.

Wonder how many other people send stuff too?

She could have been on a nice little earner there.

    Hi Teenz

I really do not think it is appropriate to mention what the gift was that I sent as when you send someone a gift it is sent from the goodness of your heart, and therefore, as I sent it with all good intention thats how I want it to remain. However, I know, and furthermore, the receipient knows full well what it was. I also sincerely hope that the gift brought some comfort to this person.

I was however rather surprised to say the least that I was the one who had to email the person in question in order to enquire if the said gift had indeed arrived. Fortunately, it had. I am sure we all know what the postal service is like in Turkey and I was happy that the person appeared to be delighted with it, which made it even stranger that she had not bothered to acknowledge receipt.

I would rather give than take, but just an acknowledgment would have been enough.

    Hi Ruby,

I agree its not the gift but the good intention and the thoughts that go into sending something. I think you have a really kind nature to do such a thing in the first place and even more so to still wish her comfort.

    Hello Teenz

Thank you for your very kind comments. I do not tolerate fools easily and dislike with a vengeance seeing people being taken for a ride and thats the reason why I am so outspoken about some of the ridiculous posts and subsequent advice being proffered on TL, however, I will try to help anyone who genuinely needs help.

    Hi Tina,

They do say that actions speak louder than words, so even a short text would have been appreciated. But there was nothing. Both Ruby and I (unaware of one another at that time) had to make contact with her to make sure she'd received the gifts.

It's very odd that considering how verbose the said woman is, she couldn't tap tap tap out your phone number and give you a quick "Thank You, I received it" message. After all, it put me in the embarrassing situation of having to ask HER if she received the items safely. I don't understand it, especially as she liked to TALK TALK TALK incessantly about herself; you'd think she'd have jumped at the opportunity to have another conversation all about herself.

When I DID have a telephone conversation (twice - each one lasting approximately 2 hours) there was no stopping her! She reminded me of those people who suffer from conditions or allergies and can't WAIT to inform everyone what they've got as soon as they sit down at a dining table. They just can't stop going on about it, and go into tedious monologues about how they can't eat certain foods because it will turn them a beige colour, their eyes will glaze and bulge, and their hair will suddenly frizz up. And they study your face to see your reaction.

She's like one of those people who can't open a fuckin jam jar without turning it into yet another story about them. I know she's been a vegetarian for years on end, and many of them take it up as an attention-seeking exercise. It's one way to get the discussion revolving around YOU. They're often very smug, too, and just like certain types of people with so-called food intolerances they view them sort of like A Levels. The more you've got, the cleverer you are, and they can keep bringing the coversation back round to them by suddenly coming out with an anecdote about their food intolerance, allergy or condition.

When one poor woman suffering from a mental condition unwittingly swung the spotlight onto her own condition, Soooooo swung into action; took off her Moderator's Hat and lambasted her for not suffering from the same illness that she's suffering from, and told her that the woman couldn't possibly be suffering - because NO-ONE could possibly be suffering as much as she suffers - and actually - she should be ashamed of herself for being ill and suffering from depression!

It was dreadful, because that poor woman who was blighted by severe depression and was feeling suicidal, received abuse and nastiness from both Soo and Jan. Jan (who likes to pretend she's a counsellor - but she is NOT) was mean and heartless to that woman - and members should look back at that post to see the REAL Jan and Soo, and how those disturbed women run that board.
