    Hiya Nicks

How is your Kindle going? Not that I am interested in its health Very Happy, more that I am thinking about investing in one, how do you find it in comparison to reading a bog standard paperback book and on average, what is the cost of downloading the books. I've heard there are some freebie books also, I love freebies I love you I love you

In your opinion, it a Kindle worth the investment? Thanks for any advice you can offer.

    Hiya Rubes

I love my Kindle, it it really worth it, especially if you travel a lot. It is so easy to just pick up and go, rather than lug around masses of books, and they have developed the screen and font, so that you can read for hours. sunny Mine is only black and white, but I believe they have ones that are 'coloured' as well. I picked up mine in the States last year for around 70 $, whcih I thought was really cheap. Mine is connected to Amazon.com....so you can download any books that they have uploaded as E-Books, although there are some books that I have been unable to acquire. One is 'White Gold'. It is the Extraordinary Story of Thomas Pels told by Giles Milton.... quote 'In the summer of 1716, a Cornish cabin boy named Thomas Pellow and fifty-one of his comrades were captured at sea by Barbary corsairs. Their captors--Ali Hakem and his network of Islamic slave traders--had declared war on the whole of Christendom. Pellow and his shipmates were bought by the tyrannical sultan of Morocco. Drawn from the unpublished letters and manuscripts of Pellow and survivors like him, White Gold is a fascinating glimpse at a time long forgotten by history.' unquote. It is a Fascinating history of the well kept secret of white slaves in North Africa. If you find it treat it like 'Gold'! pirat

To make it easier, Amazon, like they do with all their proper books, have lots of categories to choose from and they also have magazines and newspapers. They also 'track' which books you have bought and then recommend books of a siimilar genre that you might want to read. I have about 50 books currently on my Kindle, and when I have read them I 'archive' them so that they don't take up too much space. You can also share books with your friends. E-Books are really reasonable to buy, the expensive ones are about 25 dollars but most that I have purchased range from 4 - 10 dollars. You can also buy reference books, eg. travel books (Lonely Planet), photography etc. I havn't found the freebees, but I know someone who has found lots in the childrens book section. Of course you have to have a wifi network to download, so for you it will be really easy. I have to go to town to do that, it's a mission.

BUT nothing can compare with a proper book.. bounce that you can 'turn' and touch, which contains the history and leaves the footprint of all who have read it before.....and which says good-night to you when you go to bed. lol! My house is like a library, I have books everywhere, it is very comforting to wander around my house and feel at home with all the authors that I have 'met' on my book travels!! study lol! But yes, I definately would reccommend a Kindle if you love reading..

    Nicks xx
