Free Day Out At The Zoo For Fatties Empty Free Day Out At The Zoo For Fatties

Post  Admin Mon Jan 16, 2012 7:11 pm

Good grief! I just came across this article in the DM and could hardly believe my eyes! Shocked

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2086306/Obese-patients-Zoo-scanners-used-large-fit-hospital-ones.html

Doctors are now starting to send morbidly obese patients who need a scan to the ZOO - because they're too fat to fit in a scanning machine! That is really horrific! Although, I must say, I have wondered how obese people could fit into an MRI machine - they aren't particlarly roomy! But then they were designed for human-beings of a normal weight, I suppose....

Oooh, imagine the shame of being sent to the zoo for a scan!

Looking on the bright side - grotesque fatties will have a free day out at the zoo - and they can take a packed lunch of Greggs sausage rolls and cream buns with them!

Ha ha Sal, but elephants are enormous so I expect that they have to have special medical equipment to meet the size of these animals. Gosh I would be so ashamed if my GP referred me to the Zoo for a MRI. What on earth makes people get so morbidly obese in the first place, well I suppose the answer to that is simple, their lives are so miserable and empty that they gorge themselves to death literally pig

Strawbs, your quote 'looking on the bright side - grotesque fatties will have a free day out at the zoo - and they can take a packed lunch of Greggs sausage rolls and cream buns with them!' cracked me up tongue These Greggs have sprung up all over the country and it appears to me that its compulsory for the pushchair brigade of young teenage mum's to give their child a Greggs sausage roll to shut them up when out in their pushchair, in fact, its almost replaced the dummy, just take a look next time you are out and see these kiddies with their token sausage roll. In my opinion, bad habits start at an early age due to lack of education.

Maybe the embarassment of having to be scanned with the elephants may make them do something about their weight! Although I doubt it somehow Rolling Eyes

    Hi Aydrath,

Elephants are partial to a cream bun, too! elephant So I could see a struggle going on in the waiting room! haha

Sal, fancy saying zoo animals aren't fat! That's right - they're not fat - but elephants have HUGE frames!

Ruby, you're so right about miserable people stuffing themselves with food. You often find women who are in really unhappy marriages gain weight year on year - they use food as a substitute for love and passion.

Regarding those who feed their children junk food you'll find that the majority of them come from disadvantaged backgrounds. It's no coincidence that they're usually overweight - you will hardly EVER see a rich person who is fat. If you go down to Bond Street or Sloane Street you would think obesity didn't exist (I'm always the fattest person down there) and forget looking in the clothes shops if you're more than a Size 12!

It's funny how times change. Over a hundred years ago portly people were deemed to be well-off, whereas now anyone who is a porky is deemed to be poor and hard up. And sadly, it's often the case. You'll get the odd exception, but as a rule rich people are slim.

Having said all that, I do wonder why porkie people don't make lifestyle changes - especially where their children are concerned! Even if money is an issue - that's still no excuse for eating junk food. Instead of giving their child a greasy Greggs sausage roll and chips why not give them a jacket potato with baked beans or a couple of slices of bacon or ham? It's probably cheaper, and so much healthier!

    Hi Hayley,

I don't think I've seen a Bakers Oven, mind you, I only found out about Greggs a few years ago, when a friend looked all shocked as she told me she'd been in Greggs and I din't have a clue what she was talking about! I must walk around with my eyes shut, cos apparently they're on almost every High Street! Exclamation Thinking about it, even now I couldn't tell you their brand colours - maybe that's why I never noticed them popping up all over the place? Suspect

I don't know what it is, but something about them just doesn't attract me. I don't really eat pastries very often (just cos they're fattening) but if you get a really lovely sausage roll in light flaky pastry I think they are very tasty! I'm also partial to a hot Cornish Pasty - though I never buy those, either.

I like old-fashioned English bakers where they bake all their bread and cakes on the premises. I used to go to a bakers near to where I used to live, and the smell in the morning as all the bread came out the oven was divine! Their bread was gorgeous, too. I used to love their sesame or poppy-seed loaves - they were huge - and always cooked slightly over so they were a little bit burnt on the crust, but inside the dough was so lovely and light. They also did crusty bread rolls (that supermarkets just cannot do) and cottage loaves, too. I think old-fashioned English bread is one of the best in the world.

Oh, and their cakes were lovely, too. Fresh cream Chocolate Eclairs, Custard Slices, Mandolins, Cream Meringues (my favourite!) Fruit Tarts, Custard Tarts, mini Apple Pies etc....mmmmmm I'm tempting myself!

I must admit they are nice for a treat sometimes. Wink

My grandchildren eat pork, in fact they love it and their father is quite ok with that, he even sneaked a cocktail sausage to one of them when they were nagging for more at a recent party lol! Little Oliver Twists Very Happy
