Here we go again, financial woes for Thomas Cook, already 900 million pound in debt and for the second time in one month they are going cap in hand to increase their borrowing, yikes, I wonder if they are going to be around much longer Question

With all these charter companies folding like a pack of cards, looks like a very bleak summer season for Turkey in 2012, not to mention the huge increase in air fares if TC go down the river.

Dont just book it, Thomas Cook fxxked it Laughing

Maybe driving will be an alternative next year, well I wanted to get a UK car into Turkey and park it at the house, although I understand it will only be for a limited amount of time, this may well be my opportunity. Anyone want to share the trip to Marm next summer? Remember, whats for you wont pass you by lol! lol!

    Hi Rubes

PLEASE Would you pick me up....it might be a little detour but i'm sure you won't mind. I travel very lightly, just my Jane outfit (sarong and sunglasses). How about a rendezvous in Sudan? They are extremely friendly people. Then we can do our very own Arab Spring tour? Shinny through Egypt, imbibe a little of Father Abraham's land, hit Lebanon, do a bit of Bashar-bashing in Syria and then glide into (as the numpties say) beautiful Turkiye lol! lol! Marmaris here we come. Now where did I leave my outsize bikine elephant lol!

    Hi THD and Nicks

Of course you can both come and join me, dont know yet when I will be going, expect I will have to go over early season to check over the house before my family use it, although, I dont usually stay very long. I like to go when its really hot. One bonus of driving is that there wont be any weight restrictions of what I can pack into a vehicle, so that in itself is a bonus. Dont know what the cost of petrol will be, but as you say THD, the way air fares are at the moment, they will be through the roof next year.

Nicks, I think I will on this occasion have to pass on your kind offer to drive through those most unpopular holiday destinations you mention, unless of course I wanted to end up with a hole in my head affraid Although, I could probably frighten them off just by showing them my socks (see my other thread Razz )

I do believe TC will go under, its just a matter of time. Bet Richard Branson is already making enquiries about acuiring his own brand of Virgin Charter airline Rolling Eyes

How many members would book their flight with Thomas Cook now that they have admitted they have financial problems? After the demise of Holidays4U, who would risk booking for next year?

Just wondered this as if consumer confidence is lost, this is going to have a knock on affect on the tourist resorts.

Personally I would not pre book unless it was a last min deal.
