    Indian Summer Empty Indian Summer

Wow Ladies we are so lucky to be enjoying such gorgeous weather this time of the year. Its like being back in Marm again, although last week there were a couple of storms (weatherwise) and the temperature dropped by 10 degrees down to around 20c.

With temps around 25-28c in the UK I have been able to keep my summer clothes out.

What has everyone got planned for this coming weekend. Bet lots of us will be in the garden having family around, a few drinks and BBQ. Oh I love Indian Summers, but better make the most of it as the forecasters are warning that the warm spell will end next week.

Oh well, all good things must come to an end sooner or later I suppose, so going to make the most of it with my family this weekend.

    Hi Ruby,

Oh, it's gorgeous isn't it?! What I particularly love about an Indian summer is how beautiful the trees look in the sunshine - I've got loads of burnished gold, deep reds, copper - they look stunning. That's what I like about the UK - the seasons' change your landscape and it's ever changing.

I'm feeling rather poetical now tongue

Unfortunately, Ms Ruby, I appear to have caught your cold down the phone line! In fact, it's more than a cold - I feel quite 'fluey'. It came on yesterday afternoon quite suddenly, and I felt all tired and hot with a sore throat and blocked nose. clown

I'm very hot this morning, and I don't think it's going to clear up quickly. It doesn't feel like it. My cousin and her husband were going to pop over this afternoon, too, but I'll have to cancel them.

I'll just have to dose myself up with painkillers etc (and any excuse for brandy! tongue ) I'm heavily into a book at the moment (Twilight) and can't put it down. My daughter gave it to me and ordered me to read it! She said I will love it - and I do!

So this weekend looks like being a bit of a 'not doing much' weekend. I'll have to get all comfy on the sunlounger and ache out there instead!

    Hi Strawbs

Hope you are feeling much better today.

Thursday was my worse day, yesterday still felt yukky, but I am much better today.

According to what they were saying on the radio earlier in the week what we are experiencing cannot technically be called an "Indian summer".

Apparently there has to be frost before you can call it an Indian summer. An Indian summer occurs when the summer comes back to replace the winter and as we've had no frost so far, the summer cannot be considered to have gone away yet.

It's all very nice I suppose if you like that sort of thing but I actually don't like this unseasonally hot weather. I have no complaints about the climate we have here and have no desire to live in a country where it's hot all year round. This is about two months too bloody late as far as I'm concerned and is now spoiling my Autumn. This time of year I want it to be cold and crisp with clear blue skies, I want to smell bonfires, put my boots and woollies on, go for walks looking for chestnuts and later cuddle up all cosy indoors. I don't want to be all hot and bothered in bed and then stand sweltering on the touchline when watching my son play football like I did this morning and be preparing for a barbeque later - it's all wrong!!
