We're actually going on a holiday, which I insisted we had, that's not Turkey!
We're going on a cruise, which is something I've never done or thought of but got a really good deal when I reached the desperation stage looking for something! Evil or Very Mad

Has anyone been on one, any advice?
(We are back to Turkey in September so I'm so excited about this!)

    Hi Cazzy,

I haven't been on a cruise myself, but it's something I've toyed with, simply because everyone I know whose been on one has said how fantastic they are. Both my aunt, uncle, brother and sister have all been on cruises several times, and can't understand why I don't do one too. They absolutely rave about them.

Where are you going on yours? My family have done the Mediterranean cruises, Greek Islands and Caribbean, and they really sound out of this world. The food (I'm always talking about food Embarassed ) is brilliant, and it's almost round the clock. Breakfast, mid morning snacks, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, midnight barbecue and buffet - and the food is REALLY top class. I think they had to buy their drinks (not sure about the prices) and they also had shops on the ship with lots of lovely things to buy.

There was entertainment every day and night, including a cinema, disco, plus swimming pool of course. Oh, they also do massage, beauty treatments, hairdresser etc... I think the dinner was done in two settings, and you chose which one you wanted at the beginning. I think you share a table with the same diners every night (about 8 people?) so it's very sociable and friendly. Then you meet the Captain and all that stuff. Oh, and they usually have fireworks on the last night too. Of course, it's REALLY romantic at night as the stars are so brilliant in the sky out at sea, and there's always music to dance to - they cater for everyone - from children to elderly people - so there's something for everyone.

I'm sure the ship sails mainly at night, as I remember them telling me how fantastic it was to wake up each morning and see a new country out their window! Oh, that's another thing - you must get an outside cabin (one with a window) they're much better. They do room service too, and you have the same person looking after you throughout your trip - and they leave an envelope for you to tip them.

You also get an itinery through your door each day telling you what special events are on that day (or the next?) and what trips they're doing when they dock. So you get to see quite a few countries too. I think a coach takes you all around on a tour of wherever you've stopped : Naples, Barcelona for example....depends which cruise you do.

God, I'm talking myself into one! tongue

Which cruise are you doing? Going by my family they're absolutely fantastic, so you're going to love it!
